Hey everyone!!!!
Chai this week has been pretty crazy to say the least!!!! So to start the week we had fun riding around and finding people to give pamphlets to. Pamphlets, for those of you who aren't in the missionary fold (lol), are things that we give to people to help them learn about the church. We found a little kid and he asked us for like all the pamphlets we had, it was so cool!!!! Later that day, we met a kid at a shop with a Digimon shirt, chai that kid was so cool haha!!! So Elder Koetting was having fun walking around blind and I was sitting there laughing cuz it's just funny to see someone try to be blind haha!!!!
Wednesday was a pain though. I went on exchange with a missionary named Elder Christopherson. He's pretty sweet! He's in an all African apartment and he's not really having it right now. Him and I can relate cuz I was in that situation a while ago, but hopefully the Lord will answer his prayer and work with him so he can feel joy in the work! With him, we went around and saw a few people. We have been seeing Kobby and Robert Brown a few times after their baptisms so that is super cool. We then went and saw a few people in a huge French speaking compound. I'm not gonna lie, I wish I went to France to learn French and get a sweet accent!!!! So we met up with the others and switched back.
The weirdest part of that day was that a missionary came to our apartment. . .a returned missionary!!!!! Niempong came to the apartment and now he's staying there!!!! He's not a missionary and now he's just here. I guarantee that he's just going around and breaking cha with girls in his old areas. He's FAKE!!!!!
ELDER USE PAMPHLET ATTACK!!!!! IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!!!!!! So I say this cuz on Thursday we went around our areas with a lot of people and just handed out as many pamphlets as we possibly could!!!!! It was so fun and I couldn't have had a better day haha!!!! First we hit a part in Elder Koetting and my area. We then went to Elder Seninde's and Antwi's area and did the same there, it was crazy fun!!
Also, apparently when it comes to Ghanaian women and white people, they just see us as a plane ticket, a credit card that's got no limit, or a baby machine that can really get it haha!!!!!! The thoughts of Ghanaian and white people is just pathetic!!!! I don't know how many offers I've gotten to give someone my babies, take them to the US, or buy them something, it's FAKE!!!!!! As for Friday, we didn't do much rather than see some people and walk around not knowing what to do haha!!!!
Saturday. . .16 months on Mission and a trip to the temple to do Baptisms for the Dead with a few people of the ward!!!!! So that was hectic!!!! We woke up and got ready in our best and then went to the church at around 7 in the morning. So, we all got in a small tro tro and left for the temple. The trip took about 20 to 30 minutes for us to make it to Accra. When we got there we went inside and sat there for a bit so we would have our session. We got called in and we all got dressed. We as the missionaries wanted to perform the baptisms, but it turn out that Elder Koetting ended up doing all of them haha!!! We did that and got dressed again. As we were leaving I ran into Elder Ben!!!!! Chai it's been too long with that guy!!!! I bought some stuff and I also bought some movies to share with investigators like Legacy and The Testaments. Chai I love those movies!!!! So that was Saturday in a nutshell, we then went and saw people when we got back later that day.
Sunday was pretty chill. We went to church and that was cool. Emefa and a man named Azuma came!!!!! Azuma was someone we met like 2 weeks ago near a member's house, he says he's read a few things from the Book of Mormon and that he wants to learn more!!! So, we'll definitely see him again this next week!!! We heard from a sister named Kezia, she received her mission call a few weeks ago and she is going to Nigeria!!!! Chai that's the mission that Elder Antwi was serving in before he came to Ghana. So, really quick to let you all know, Elder Antwi was serving in Nigeria when he was having health problems he was reassigned to Ghana. He is from Ghana so he's not to happy to be back, but he's gotten better and now Kenzia is going to that same mission that he was in!!!! So she gave her remarks and then we went on with the church service. We came back home and then we just chilled. We left to see Vincent and that was basically it. So Elder Koetting was throwing my bouncy ball and he accidentally didn't aim it and it went somewhere that it wasn't supposed to do, so that was a good highlight and funny event of Sunday haha!!!
How as for today, it was just chaotic!!!! We ran to Kenashi to buy more stuff for back home. I got more ties and I'm glad for that. It got some other stuff and yeah. Now we are just chilling here at the cafe for a bit till we go and see Kezia at her farewell party tonight.
Well that's all folks!!!!! Hope you all are doing amazing and hope you all are being safe back home!!!!! I love you all and hope you all are being the most amazing people you can be!!!!
Love,
Elder Stockton Smith
