June 12, 2017 Email

Hey everyone!!

Chai this week has been one for the memories to say the least!!!!  So I am literally just going to put the week into a nutshell cuz I honestly don't have the patience to write so much today.

So as for the week we have had success with meeting more people.  Carlos we met last Monday in the morning and he was previously learning with the Jehovah's Witnesses so that is interesting.  We met Janet on Tuesday and we went to see a few other people.  We went over to Abklekuma to see some people, but that was just not effective.  We came back and taught Livingston.  Chai he's sweet and really loving the gospel here.

Wednesday I went on exchange with Elder Hall!!! Chai that was so much fun!!!  We had tons of success meeting and teaching people!!!!  We saw Janet again and then we met a man named Isaac!!!   So he learned with missionaries before and he has a strong desire to be a part of the church.  We gave him a baptismal date for the 9th of July!!!!  He's related to Maxwell who is now a recent convert!!  We left and met a girl named Belinda.  Chai she's so cool!!  She enjoys the gospel and we have just met her once!!!!  She had a lot of questions about the Book of Mormon.  We left and saw Livingston again and he committed to be baptized on the 9th of July as well!!!!!  We came back and we saw Jacob for a bit.

Thursday we had interviews with President Simpson. . .CHAI!!!!!  He is so cool and I'm so grateful to have him as my mission president.  He is really grateful for me to be training and in a sense expects a lot from me. . .kinda scary to be honest.  We left and came back to see Belinda again.  We talked about the Book of Mormon more and she loves it.  We left and went to Ablekuma to try to see people.  We contacted a girl named Ruth there so that was cool.  We left and came back.  Unfortunately we as an apartment had just a little disagreement which in turn caused Ememem and I to not get along.  That night it was hard to sleep to say the least.

Friday however was better.  In the morning till about late afternoon Ememem refused to talk to me.  He sure was upset.  We went and taught some people.  We went and taught Maxwell and Isaac and that was cool.  We left and met a girl named Eva near a member and other investigator.  Eva spoke very little English.  She speaks Ga!!!!  So we had a member come and translate for us so that was cool.  We left and met Mary.  She's a lady we met a while back when Koetting was still here.  We went and saw a lady named Rebecca.  We met her around Anyaa market and that was cool.

Sample of Ga language

Saturday sucked.  We left for chapel cleaning and that was cool.  We went and saw a few people later in the day cuz he had a headache.  We went to Ablekuma to try to see people, but that failed.  One of our investigators, Happy, who is Azuma's (recent convert) grandma is not doing to well.  When we went to say hi she was just sitting there and she said she wouldn't be able to come to church cuz of her own church.  So we said bye and left.  We came back and saw Livingston for a little bit.  We came home and yeah.

Sunday was the day that Francis was baptized!!! So, basically we get to the chapel late because Ememem isn't too time effective and there was literally nothing ready for the baptism.  We literally ran around and got everything ready.  We got it all done and then we had the baptism after.  We left and we were at the apartment doing some stuff the rest of the day.  So yeah, that's basically the week.

We also just came from a zone activity so that is why I don't have a lot of time.  We had fried rice, chicken, salad, and it was nice.  I'll try to send the photos here in a second, but I don't know how well that will do.

So yeah, that was my week.  Love you all and hope you all are doing amazing.

From,
Elder Stockton Smith
