October 31, 2016 Email

Well then the week:

As far as things are going here, it's just kind of clockwork.

Lokutshu and I have gone on a lot of splits this week with members and its' just been hectic!!!!!

We have met with a lot of people and that's cool.  There are these kids that I just love seeing, Ebenezar and Jeannett.  They found us teaching Ebenezar's older brother and well, they just hopped into the lessons.  They love seeing us and whenever we pass them on the street they always give us a hug or something like that.

This week there has been a big festival in Odoben.  So, that really messed up our week cuz a lot of people were busy, drunk, or just hard to find.  Now that the festival gets over today, it'll be easier to go see people and visit with them.  There have been a lot of weird customs here for that.  Men dress like women and women dress like men.  They have music playing and people like to drink a lot.  Tons of people have been coming to Odoben to celebrate and that's pretty cool.  Seeing a lot of people that I've never met before so that's cool.  The only downside is that I'm white and everyone thinks that I can buy them stuff and that I'm just there to have fun.  Also walking around is annoying cuz, well, everyone can seem I'm new and that's just kind of weird cuz a lot of people stare.  So, that just it.  We have had some lessons and we have been working hard here.

We went to farm on Saturday.  I brought coco back on my head, the only downside is that since I've never carried anything on my head, I'm having crazy neck problems.  I've been taking a lot of pain medication but it's just painful.  We have had a good time in looking around and yeah.  It has been raining a lot here so it's hard to go out sometimes.

Mom, if you are sending a package, make sure you have NoBite in there!!!!  Chai, I'm getting eaten alive!!!  I'm very sure I have malaria in my system, but Doxy is keeping it down.  I'd also love some more photos of all of you so yeah.

Hope you all are doing ok back home, and I hope you're not doing anything too crazy without me haha!!!!!

Well then, it's been a week to say the least.

So, I'm doing better and just trying to cope with things.  President Simpson gave me a call which really helped and I talked to some of my MTC companions.  Lambson, thanks bro, you really help me out here, and I can't thank you enough.

Greg, thanks for the advice, I can look past myself and see who the Lord needs me to be.  It may take time, but I'm not giving up on who I need to be for those who need my help.

So the week:  We are working with new investigators and stuff like that.  We had a Multi-Zone Conference this last Thursday.  I got to see a lot of my MTC here.  Seeing Lambson, Hunt, McFarland, Wilson, Randall, it just really helped give me a boost for being here.  These guys are crazy, but they are AMAZING!!!!! We were talked to by President Simpson and Elder Vinson of the Area Authorities.  It was wicked amazing to hear from them and to hear what we as missionaries can do to become better.  Talked a lot of Repentance and the Book of Mormon.  I'm still trying to study the scriptures more, but it comes and goes.  Like I said, I think I just need some time to adjust to things.

We had a Seminary and Institute meeting in  Winneba and I got Blue Skies!!!!  See Blue Skies is like a smoothie.  I got the mango, banana, pineapple one I think.  They are amazing and I'm so addicted to them

- lol.  We have also been working hard with the members lately.

We had baptisms on Sunday for Richie and Samuel Graham.  They are younger brothers of a now active member.  Things are going pretty well here.  I'm staying in Odoben, and I hope to stay here till Christmas for Skype, lol.

As far as things are going, it's just off and on.  I just need time to adjust and really think.  If any of you have advice, I'd love to hear it!

I got the package with the debit card.  I already have Mac and Cheese-lol, I got that from Lambson.  Chai, I don't look the same, lol and I really hope to get some more photos from you all and hopefully soon!  Also, I'd like some candy.  Jolly ranchers and stuff like that lol and Swedish Fish!!!!!!!!

Hope you all are being safe!  I love you all!!!

Love,
Elder Stockton Smith

This week:

Tuesday:  Saw people, and didn't do a lot.

Wednesday:  Had District Council Meeting.  Saw people, had it rain a lot here.  Went out and saw members.

Thursday:  Went out, did exchanges with Beya.  We saw a lot of people and had a member named Joyce come with us.

Friday:  We saw people.  My companion thinks I'm selfish and lazy.  Doing whatever needs to be done.

Saturday:  Saw people, went to Acikuma for interview.  Saw Randall and Harrison there.  They had a movie night with members so that was cool.  Had institute after that and came home.

Sunday:  Went to church and Beya and Doffou had a baptism.  His name is Samual.  He has a tablet that the's gonna let me use for Christmas so I can Skype, so hopefully I can still be in this area by that time.

Well as far as this week went, it was just kind of distant I guess to say.  Just felt detached from the work is a better way to put it.  Just going through a hard time so yeah.  If any of you have advice I'd appreciate it.

Well, hope all is well and hope you all are being safe.
